“In war,” answered the weaver, “the strong make slaves of the weak, and in peace the rich make slaves of the poor. We must work to live, and they give us such mean wages that we die. We toil for them all day long, and they heap up gold in their coffers, and our children fade away before their time, and the faces of those we love become hard and evil. We tread the grapes, and another drinks the wine. We sow the corn, and our own board is empty. We have chains, though no eyes behold them; and we are slaves, though men call us free.”
- Oscar Wilde, “The Young King”

Another thing for us is that despite how SA!! runs at the core, the band is multi-faceted with a variety of people. There are the other fellows in the band, and we owe a great deal already to those outside of it.
So I thought it would be worth stating who is involved. Plus, when stories come up later on the site, this page might be used as a reference point.
Dave O’Connor - Drums
Dave and I met on a chance evening while he was working at Guitar Center about a month ago. I was up there talking to a buddy of mine who was trying to convince me to try his friend out on a drums. Suddenly, friend realizes that Dave played drums, and grabbed him for me. Upon introduction I say:
me: “well, uh…have you heard of my band Sakes Alive!! at all?”
Dave: “um…no”
me: “well…do you want to try out?”
Dave: “sure”
Now he jams the beard, second to Tim. Dave brings a quiet and collected personality to the fold, that is backed by his love for hardcore. For fans of This is Hell and Bane.
BC Mostyn - Bass
BC got in touch when we lost our “first” drummer, and offered to help out. BC also got us into our first actual practice space, since he was practicing there with his other band. When our “first” bassist quit after a show in Buffalo, NY, we all sat at Mighty Taco (old bassist included) and discussed the situation. Car ride home I ask BC how he felt about playing bass, and he said that would suit him fine.
BC is into Americorp for helping inner-city kids, bikes, and indie rock. Dude wear’s the same blue flannel everyday too. This should be symbolic of his authenticity.
Tim Williams - Guitar
Lead guitarist and dominant beard, up until recently. Dude thought it would be a good idea to shave it for muttonchops. Safe to say we were all a bit agitated by the decision…
Tim and I have known each other since we were young children. His parents are deaf, and my mom is deaf. If anyone has any slight insight into deaf culture, they tend to run together in droves.
However, throughout the years I wasn’t really too interested in being bothered by Tim. So I didn’t . But I guess I indirectly got him into punk rock. He cites being over at my house years ago sitting around, listening to Green Day records emit from my room. Who knew?
Now he ends up at every show possible. Comedian of the band. He owns one of the Less Than Jake cereal boxes.
Patrick Stefano - Photographer
Stefano is one of my best friends of 10 years now. He’s a photographer, self-proclaimed SA!! goon, and most generous to put up with our foolishness. This dude has done more for humanity than he’s done for himself. I can’t tell you how many times he’s carting my ass and this band’s ass around.
Most, if not all, photos can be linked to him. Plus I plan for him to quit everything to go on the road with us (you know you want to man). This world owes Pat big-time. Give him something.
Barrie Cohn - Press
Barrie is from Brooklyn and handles press related matters for us. It wasn’t always so, as I had contacted her about maybe sending her a demo for possible consideration for her online radio show, Generic Insight Radio. I guess she was feeling generous that day. Now she’s one of the more recognizable faces in Western New York lately.
Her show is awesome, and Brooklyn is awesome. So you can only imagine how she stacks up on the awesome scale.
Jordan Nicometo - Recording
Jordan is recording with us for our 7″ on Barrett Records. He has been traveling and setting up at our practice space for recording, and sustained his truck being broken into in the side lot of the space. Dude’s CD player was stolen, but not the iPod or wallet sitting on the seat…
Jordan is a sweet dude, who’s role I imagine is only going to increase in the band’s life-span. He wears the same Coheed and Cambria shirt every time I see him (please forgive the offense).
Obviously (or maybe not so obviously) there are (or shall be) more individuals who are part of the fold. Music is a social thing. It brings individuals together. This is our small scope of what it’s like.
